John Swinton, PA-C

Growing up in Charleston, as the son of a pastor and principal, John learned the importance of servant leadership. As a former captain for the basketball teams at Wando High School and Wofford College, his leadership skills were put to test, as he helped lead Wofford College to 2 SoCon championships and 2 NCAA tournament appearances.

 

John was able to combine his leadership skills and love of sports by pursuing a Masters in Heath at the University of South Alabama, followed by a physician assistant (PA) degree from Tufts University in Boston, ultimately transitioning to general orthopedics after school.

 

After serving the North Shore of Boston for nearly 3 years as a PA, John returned home to Charleston in 2023 to focus on Sports Medicine with Dr. Johannesmeyer. As a former athlete, John has experienced many of the injuries faced by many patients, and he aims to provided compassionate and knowledgeable care to help optimize the function of his patients.

 

John is a member of Physician Assistants in Orthopedic Surgery. He enjoys working out, running, playing basketball and being by the water with his wife, Caitlin, whether by boat, beach, or pool. It is his greatest honor to serve the community where he grew up, and he looks forward to meeting you as a patient or in the community.
