Dr. James Spearman knows sports medicine and all about athletics in the lowcountry. A graduate of Summerville High School, he played under South Carolina football coaching legend, John McKissick. A Citadel graduate and the recipient of his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, Dr. Spearman’s lowcountry roots are strong. He has treated patients at Lowcountry Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine for many years. Says one patient, “He is the best!!! Dr. Spearman has taken great care of my family and friends.”
Dr. Spearman specializes in shoulder and knee reconstructive surgery, sports medicine, and arthroscopic surgery. He takes time to listen to patients. A Summerville patient explains, “My rotator cuff surgery was my first experience with Dr. Spearman. He was patient, informative and very personable. I never felt pushed or rushed to have surgery.” A North Charleston patient agrees saying, “He is always kind, patient, knowledgeable, professional, just an all-around great doctor. I always feel confident that he and his staff are going to take amazing care of me and somehow they still exceed my expectations.”
Dr. Spearman is committed to giving back to the community as he works closely with the Summerville High School Athletics Department. In addition, he is involved in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, South Carolina Orthopaedic Association, South Carolina Medical Association, Charleston County Medical Society, Dorchester County Medical Society, and Hughston Society. Dr. Spearman is a founding physician of The Citadel Association of Physicians and Surgeons.
